A GREAT PROJECT PLAYWRIGHT SUBMISSION:
is a complete, full-length play.
aligns with Sanguine's mission to pursue relevant, thought-provoking new works.
is an unpublished new play.
Project Playwright is a result of our love of playwrights and new work. Plus, it is extremely exciting to bring a group of new voices together for a whirlwind festival and have a full production emerge from our collaborative efforts!
Submissions will be accepted beginning October 1, 2017 until October 31, 2017. Writers based anywhere in the world are encouraged to apply. Plays submitted through this program are reviewed by Sanguine's team of readers and chosen based on theatricality, craft, and voice. Finalists will be invited to participate in a festival evening of excerpted staged readings in New York City, and one play will be chosen by the Festival audience to receive a fully-produced world premiere production as part of Sanguine's 2018 season. A stipend will also be provided to the playwright for their production.
While we understand that new works will have growth, Project Playwright is not a development program at this time, as the ultimate goal is to present a fully-produced production. We are an artistic community, and we invite playwrights to join that community. Between time of submission and performance, decisions like excerpt selection and revisions to the script, will be made in collaboration between the playwright and Sanguine's artistic staff.
Please read the Project Playwright Consent Agreement.
To submit, please submit the following to email@example.com:

A $5 non-refundable administrative fee is due at the time of submission. It can be paid via PayPal by clicking the button below:
Why the $5.00 submission fee?
Sanguine spends three months of each year focused on accepting, reading, and assessing new plays for its Project Playwright Festival. The submission fee offsets operational and administrative costs during this commitment to new work.
Can I submit more than one play?
Yes! Just remember that each individual submission must be accompanied by a submission fee. Sending multiple submissions as separate emails will help us in tracking your scripts.
Are your play submission rules set in stone?
We understand that a play is something that cannot necessarily be boxed into specific limitations. We have provided some guidelines, but there are always exceptions. When in doubt, just email us! We are always available for questions.
My play has been previously produced. Can I still submit it?
Yes. As stated above, if you are selected as a semi-finalist, we will review the play's history and take that into consideration.
